Dangerous Chemical

Saw this on a random website…. Just reposting it’s Content. I don’t believe only 1 person knew… but it’s possible it was like a primary school science fair… @.@

Use your brains people!!!

Dangerous Chemical!

A student at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair, April 26. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical “dihydrogen monoxide.”

And for plenty of good reasons, since:

  1. it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
  2. it is a major component in acid rain
  3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
  4. accidental inhalation can kill you
  5. it contributes to erosion
  6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
  7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients

He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.

  • Forty-three (43) said yes,
  • six (6) were undecided,
  • and only one (1) knew that the chemical was water.

The title of his prize winning project was, “How Gullible Are We?”

He feels the conclusion is obvious.

A Thousand Kisses Deep

I saw this poem (well it was actually a sony video ad) but the words were so compelling and cool…
Wanted to share this with all…

Sounds like something I had wanted to write before.. but this is so much cooler!

A Thousand Kisses Deep

Don’t matter if the road is long
Don’t matter if it’s steep
Don’t matter if the moon is gone
And the darkness is complete
Don’t matter if we lose our way
It’s written that we’ll meet
At least, that’s what I heard you say
A thousand kisses deep

I loved you when you opened
Like a lily to the heat
You see, I’m just another snowman
Standing in the rain and sleet
Who loved you with his frozen love
His second hand physique
With all he is and all he was
A thousand kisses deep

I know you had to lie to me
I know you had to cheat
You learned it on your father’s knee
And at your mother’s feet
But did you have to fight your way
Across the burning street
When all our vital interests lay
A thousand kisses deep

I’m turning tricks
I’m getting fixed
I’m back on boogie street
I’d like to quit the business
But I’m in it, so to speak
The thought of you is peaceful
And the file on you complete
Except what I forgot to do
A thousand kisses deep

Don’t matter if you’re rich and strong
Don’t matter if you’re weak
Don’t matter if you write a song
The nightingales repeat
Don’t matter if it’s nine to five
Or timeless and unique
You ditch your life to stay alive
A thousand kisses deep

The ponies run
The girls are young
The odds are there to beat
You win a while, and then it’s done
Your little winning streak
And summon now to deal with your invincible defeat
You live your life as if it’s real
A thousand kisses deep

I hear their voices in the wine
That sometimes did me seek
The band is playing Auld Lang Syne
But the heart will not retreat
There’s no forsaking what you love
No existential leap
As witnessed here in time and blood
A thousand kisses deep

Shopping spree

It’s been a fairly long time since I’ve gone shopping…
Off a random whim, me and J decided to head to this new mall in Taichung called Top City 大遠百 where he told me that place had a 5 Star Bathroom.
I must say, it was pretty nice… I don’t think it compared to the one in one of the malls I remember going to in HK or this other one I had remember going to in Tokyo.

We browsed the first few lower levels. It had plenty of highly priced international brands… seeing those kinda price tag can literally stun a person on the spot. Looking around however, people appeared to be growing money trees in their back yards.  Wasn’t even after work, but there were many people, hot-shots with cuties,  shopping around with bags of purchases. Sometimes I wish I have a sugarmama… LOL… Nah jokes… a hot girl will do… 😉

But cutting a semi long story short, because it was nearing the end of winter as well as the end of Chinese New Year, I came out of the mall with three full bags of new jackets (yes… for some reason, I only bought jackets) an empty wallet, a swiped bank card, and my whole months allowance gone in one afternoon.

Note to self; when you cap an active volcano, it’s gonna burst one day… and it aint gonna be pretty… D:

Holding on to the old

I can’t help it, but ever since ive caught up with many of my old friends that ive somehow been trying to claw my way back into my old life… the life which I felt was comfortable at the time. But the strange thing is, the more I try, the more I find myself sinking back into those feelings which I wanted to leave behind. No… The new me embraces change and the new environment which I live in. I know it within myself that I need to continue that drive… the one that I had sought after for so long. It’s been a long time coming.. but I know I can do it. The more I had retracted, the more i felt like I was slumping back into bed…

Perseverance… That’s what we really all need to get through those days that seem meek. Maybe a cup of coffee or two as well.

Interesting week

So far, this week has been somewhat interesting. A few times, I had wanted to write in here, but haven’t really gotten the chance or the quiet time to write in here. (Something which I am scared of).

Yesterday, I tried to teach the kids to play bullrush (one of my favourite childhood games), but it seems like the kid’s here don’t really understand the concept of purely bolting across the field. But as soon as the get on a basketball court, their energy peaks and are all revved to play ball.

After class, J introduced me to a friend of his friend. His name is Fuder (pronounced foode) from the states, Cali. The guy was pretty cool. His family owns a motel in Nantou which is pretty cool. The guy, I must admit just radiated “cool”ness and in my opinion, is quite handsome with his no.1 haircut. Actually, quite like a typical hip-hop Asian American, hah… That evening, he showed us some groovy places in Nantou like the sand sculptures and this small temple who had these awesome as trees that would be perfect if one wished to make a treehouse. The branches span horizontal like 2m above ground and are linked to the surrounding trees as well. He also had taken us to this really nice cosy and authentic cottage for dinner, up in the mountains, overlooking Nantou. Seriously IDEAL spot for a romantic getaway or a date. The place had a few cute dogs and evening-lit garden that appears enchanting and magical.

Last Sunday, I had met up with Pat, after trying to arrange an encounter over two months. The guy is exceptionally interesting, and he talk’s insanely fast. I had a 2 hr breakfast with him and the time literally flew by so fast. Whilst there were many things that was uncommon between us, we were able to constantly engage with each other on the various things between the both of us. The guy is exceptionally on to it. The cafe we had breakfast reminded me of cafes back in NZ, where we had juice and bacon, sausages and eggs along with toasted bread and some salad. Was a nice meal, but it’s better and more authentic back in NZ.

Some days, I wish time would fly faster, other times, wishing it would slow down.
Guess the only thing we can actually do is make the most of NOW!!!

Beef Galore

Not exactly sure, but it happened so that last week… I had several consecutive meals of steak and beef. I’m sure that having so much steak is bad for me. I remember for most of 2010 as well as 2011, beef was quite rare in my diet. I do rather enjoy it normally, but during those last two years, I didn’t get the chance to eat too much because I’d been living with people who didn’t eat beef.

Last week however, I had so much beef, it wasn’t funny. I think on Tuesday night, we had ‘Stone’ bbq grill all you can eat where I mostly just ate beef bits. Wednesday, had seafood for dinner and dumplings for lunch. Thursday, beef noodles for lunch and and other complementary meal from Tungchi senior where we went to this steakhouse called Dahe. Then the day after, lunch was at another steakhouse called Daxiun (Elephant) where our Department of Planning head treated everyone in the department a free meal. Later that night, dinner with REDC… ken brought his wife and kids along… man they’re so damn cute… Was about to order another steak… but I had to hold it off and decided to order the lamb instead. Man, really miss NZ lamb chops so much. Was pretty good, really well cooked.

Yeah… felt like I had a decent dose of beef that made up for my past couple of years all in one week… lol

Edit: Additional note, grandparents wanted to go to Taichung steakhouse that same Sunday, because it was one of my cousin’s birthday… lol… that’s a lot of steak meals in 1 week.

Luck

As having no idea what to do after our class lesson with the kids, J and I decided to do a random trip to Chunghwa to eat and drink the local flavours. However, on our way there… we came up towards a turnoff intersection with the huge sign pointing out that Chunghwa was thataway… I asked J, ‘so where does the road take us if we headed on straight? Xingchu?’ after seeing another sign earlier. He said that if we continue down this straight, we will eventually reach Lukang.
I always wanted to go visit there, I thought to myself. So I told J that we have a change of plan. We’re heading to Lukang instead… With his approval, we continued heading down the expressway to make our way to Lukang.

I dunno why… but for some reason, I always find myself in those situations… where the location and environment would make the perfect outing to take a girl out on a date. Went went to an antique and historically important temple, The Temple of the Sky Queen with a bust of Machu god made entirely out of gold. There, I made wishes and prayed. We had fun trying out oyster omelet, mini clam soup, fish ball soup, and the luscious lady tongue… (actually it’s some kinda shellfish meat – interesting taste). We walked down the hundred year cobbled streets with the old houses from the Chinese Ching Tsao era. Along the way, we also bought some lucky charms and tickets. In addition to that, we visited an open art gallery on display. To sum up the evening, we had some local touhwa dessert. We both had combination touhwa which had the different beans, and some pearl jellies.

As we drove back to the camp, I was thinking to myself… that would’ve been a perfect date in my books. If only I had taken a girl… haha… not that it wasn’t bad with J, but definitely was a memorable experience. Aii… why do I constantly find myself in these… ‘situations’. Food for the soul… food for the soul… nonetheless, I’m happy I got to have the opportunity to know a new friend, J.

Following my very first post on operationJA, I found something that showed a similar thought.
